AFEN is delighted to invite you to the 2026 edition of the French Carbon Dioxide Elimination Conference, hosted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Following the success of previous editions, this major annual gathering of the industry is taking on a new scale and will focus this year on operational deployment and concrete solutions to accelerate the transition to action. Under the theme of synergies, the program will feature roundtables, workshops, and opportunities for discussion with key players in the carbon removal sector.

On October 8, 2026, AFEN will be present at Big 2026, the major gathering of entrepreneurs organized by Bpifrance at the Accor Arena in Paris. This year, AFEN is also a sponsor of one of the sessions in the Climate track. Our Scientific Director, Mathilde Fajardy, and our Vice President, Karim Rahmani, will speak at the roundtable discussion «Biomass: Industrial Green Gold,» alongside Adrien Carpentier (MGH Energy), Émeline Ghigo (ATEE), and Élodie Le Cadre Loret (Veolia). Incineration, anaerobic digestion, and biorefineries: biomass generates significant streams of biogenic CO2, a strategic raw material for the chemical industry, fuels, and materials. Beyond this utilization, the capture and storage of this biogenic carbon (BECCS) is a key technology for CO2 removal (EDC), which is essential for France to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Amid technical barriers, governance challenges, and the prioritization of uses, how can we build these new industrial sectors?

The event provided an opportunity to discuss the potential of the green gas sector with Jeanne-Marie Hays (International Energy Agency), to review the AFEN report, and to attend a panel discussion featuring Carbon Impact, GRDF, Airfix, and the ATEE Biogas Club.

PRODURABLE 2025: The 18th Edition, Focused on «Legacies» « On October 8 and 9, 2025, the Palais des Congrès in Paris will host the 18th edition of PRODURABLE, the premier event for stakeholders in the sustainable economy. Centered on the theme »Legacies: Protect, Restore, Pass On,” this new edition takes place against a backdrop where the ecological, economic, and social transition requires us to collectively rethink what we wish to pass on to future generations: resources, expertise, values, as well as sustainable and resilient models. PRODURABLE 2025 will bring together more than 15,000 visitors, 340 partners, and 750 speakers, and will feature nearly 300 workshops and roundtables, as well as numerous highlights. The exhibition will be organized around three thematic villages (Environment, Social & HR, Strategy & Governance) and dedicated pavilions (including Bpifrance’s), with itineraries designed to support all types of organizations. The scientific consensus is now unequivocal: stabilizing the climate requires halting the rise in atmospheric CO2 concentrations as quickly as possible. This means, first and foremost, drastically reducing carbon emissions, but that alone will not be enough to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement: we will also need to remove several billion metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere, particularly because certain activities cannot be fully decarbonized, but also to limit how much we exceed the carbon budget. Achieving this is a colossal challenge. Is there an ideal technology—one that is risk-free and has high potential—or should we rely on a diversified portfolio of solutions? What is the economic potential, and are there sovereignty issues at stake? What is France’s potential, and what are its strengths?
